YTE became the first team to reach the semi-finals of the YOU-C 1000 Basketball Cup after cruising to an emphatic 107-61 victory over Ceramic Pro Brunei at the Brunei Basketball Association Court in Batu Bersurat last night.
The tournament contenders lived up to the expectation of a straightforward quarter-final match after leaving their opponents 43 points behind before the start of the final stanza.
YTE foreign imports Terrell Carter and Udun Osakue both registered 17 points while Matthew Jerickson also contributed with 15 points.
YTE’s Xavier Legaspi played a good ball near the backboard and Tony Bong rose well just enough to steer it into the hoop.
Ceramic Pro Brunei’s Tan Ye Wei made his second three-pointer of the game en route to his overall tally of 15 points.
Terrell Carter played a key role in helping Legaspi to complete a team move with a neat finish as YTE closed in another century in the tournament.
Ceramic’s Goh Kheng Yih also dropped a three-pointer for his second of the match before completing another one right at the end of the game.
Ceramic’s Yong Yaw Ren also got in the act with a smooth finish after being set up by a team-mate.
Legaspi converted half of his free throws before Terrell concluded the scoring in the game.
