SEVERAL young graduates of Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd visited Labi Primary School as part of the company’s Book Charity Run Project held on Monday at the school’s multi-purpose hall.
The project, part of the company’s Strategic Social Investment (SSI) initiatives, aimed at boosting literacy and promoting a reading culture among the younger generation which represents the company’s continuous efforts to help support the development of education in the country in line with Brunei Vision 2035.
Welcoming the group to the school was Headmaster Khairul bin Mashu.
Also present during the event was teacher Annie Sindai from Cluster Six of Schools, Department of Schools, Ministry of Education. Thirty-nine students from Pre-school level to Year 6 participated in the event.
Accompanying the students were 12 of the school’s teachers.
The programme’s main activities began following an ice-breaking session between the students and the Brunei LNG group.
Also held were English and Malay spelling competition, a bookmark creation activity, English-to-Malay (and vice versa) translation sessions and a storybook reading session.
A number of donated books were handed over to the school by Project Engineer at Brunei LNG Yumni Hamizah binti Haji Hamdani to Khairul.
Half of the books was sponsored by Brunei LNG, while the other half was donated by company staff.
