SEVERAL drivers were found to have violated the Road Traffic Act and related regulations during operations conducted by the Enforcement Division of the Land Transport Department (JPD) on July 25-31 on the country’s highways.
Six private vehicle drivers: Ismail; Haji Ferus Khan bin Haji Fida Mohammad; Pengiran Haji Adit bin Pengiran Haji Ismail; Azlinawati binti Haji Timbang; Mira Eddry Fazreen Abdul Rahman; and Hong Dee Bing, were fined and penalised with Driver Safety Practice System (SiKAP) demerit points.
Of these, one driver was fined BND50 and imposed with nine SiKAP demerit points for using a private vehicle as public transportation without a valid licence or permit.
Four people were fined BND150 and imposed nine SiKAP demerit points each for failure to wear seatbelts while driving. Another person was fined BND200 and handed 12 SiKAP demerit points for using a mobile phone while driving.
Meanwhile, 25 drivers from 25 transport companies were compounded between BND50- BND200 for various road traffic offences.
They are: Totok Agus Muchbianto (Tri Star Shipping and Trading Co Sdn Bhd); Kannan Kottaivan (Syarikat Tena Ganoa Juta); Jose Ramon Jr Anchvelo (Koa Pink Construction); Andrew Sapak (Low San Hardware); Wiang Thai Kamda (BQ Sdn Bhd); Montha Seikh (Syarikat Jamahat Hj Liman); Henry Domingo (Syarikat Yanam dan Anak-Anak); Ma Sminto (Phaytc Sdn Bhd); Wediono (Phaytc Sdn Bhd); Abdul Manan (Bhuiyan Sdn Bhd); Syed Rizwan Ali Shah (FAE Sport Sdn Bhd); Mohammad Yassin bin Haji Ali (Ready Mix Concrete (B) Sdn Bhd); Belon anak Likung (Ready Mix Concrete (B) Sdn Bhd); Sisyono (Kilang Papan Maskayu Sdn Bhd); Md Eddy Mostaqim Hisanuddin (Kilang Mercu Jaya Sdn Bhd); Turyanto (Fu Yan Contractor); Dodi Anwar (CVF Welding and Building Construction); Thomas Eko Sulistiyono (Voon Yung Enterprise); Umar Faruk bin Ghafar (Azry Enterprise); Sree Ram Bank (Sungai Kebun Sdn Bhd); Nanang Wahyudi (Syarikat Awg Hj Jeludin bin Hj Nasar dan Anak-Anak); Sobirin B Achmad (DlCC Fowarding); Ambri (THA enterprise); and Mohammad Shohel (Fu Yan Contractor).
Of these, two were compounded BND50 and penalised with three SiKAP demerit points each for placing their vehicles at prohibited areas.
Two others were fined BND50 and handed six SiKAP demerit points each for driving a car with bald tyres.
The JPD reminded drivers to use and drive vehicles in accordance with the Road Traffic Act and road regulations in the country.
The department stated that it will not hesitate to issue fines and impose SiKAP demerit points against drivers, or temporarily suspend the Rent and Hire Licence of owners of transportation companies who flout the traffic rules, to ensure the safety, wellbeing and comfort of other road users.
