A TRAIL of black smoke was seen coming out from a furniture storage facility, located on the second floor of the Bangunan Haji Mohd Yassin bin Haji Adam in Kampong Senkurong ‘A’, after it burst into flames yesterday morning.
The Fire and Rescue Department was alerted at 9.15am by a distress call regarding the incident, and immediately dispatched four fire engines from the Jerudong Fire Station and the Pengkalan Batu Fire Station, to the scene.
The dispatch included a team of 33 firefighters, led by Haji Janaidi bin Gunong, the Senior Superintendent of the
Fire and Rescue Department, who fought to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjoining buildings.
After six minutes, the team managed to put out the flames, using water from a nearby fire hydrant, together with the assistance of police personnel from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF).
The cause of the fire was believed to be a loose connection on the prepaid meter that is connected with a distribution board.
The cost of damage is still under investigation, the Fire and Rescue Department said.
