A GRUESOME accident which took place just after midnight yesterday claimed the lives of two locals, a 29-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman. The duo was killed after the car they were travelling hit a tree at Jalan Menteri Besar area in Berakas.
According to a statement from the Royal Brunei Police Force, the Berakas Police Station received an emergency call at its hotline 993 at around 12.37am, alerting about the fatal accident.
According to the initial investigation report, the car driven by one of the victims crashed into a tree on the road divider.
The mangled vehicle was seen wedged into the tree’s trunk.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
The Royal Brunei Police Force reminded the public, especially road users, to always drive cautiously, comply with speed limit regulations and make sure that the vehicle is in good condition.
