THE Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) recently marked its 51st anniversary by organising a series of religious events to also commemorate the holy month of Ramadhan.
In the morning, RBN officers and personnel attended a Tahlil ceremony for the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman at the Royal Mausoleum in Jalan Tutong.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil by Captain Narulismandy bin Haji Samaih, the Religious Department of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (JAMA’AT) Operations Officer.
The Tahlil was also held to remember the historic contribution by the late Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien for the formation of RBN on June 14, 1965 which was then known as the Boat Section, Royal Brunei Malay Regiment (AMDB).
Following the Tahlil, a Khatam Al-Quran and thanksgiving prayer ceremony and subsequently a congregational Zohor prayer were held at the RBN Surau headed by Mohammad Khairol Azmi bin Haji Salleh, RBN Imam.
Present at both ceremonies were First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, Commander of RBN, along with senior officers and those of other ranks.
RBN said the religious ceremonies are a few of its annual religious activities conducted separately during its anniversary. However, taking the opportunity of the blessed month of Ramadhan, both ceremonies were held together to enliven the special month in bolstering relations among RBN officers and personnel and to seek blessings and rewards from Allah the Almighty.
