PENGIRAN Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar Secondary School emerged champion against Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Masna Secondary School in a Tuturan Pelajar Malay Language Forum final competition at Dewan Raya of Radio Television Brunei (RTB) in the capital.
Guest of honour Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education Nadia Lee Siew Hoon binti Abdullah presented the prize.
Organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau and Co-Curriculum Education Department, Ministry of Education in collaboration with RTB, the competition began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat by Acting Director of Co-Curriculum Education Mohamed Jais bin Haji Abdul Rahman.
A total of 27 students (three students in a team) from nine secondary schools, colleges and sixth form centres were selected to compete in the preliminary round held last month.
Only nine students from three secondary schools, colleges and sixth form centres were chosen for the semi-final competition.
The competition aimed to strengthen the skills of the students in using Malay Language and produce mentally intelligent students and able to think actively, creatively and critically about issues raised and at the same time to generate positive competitiveness among the students.
Tuturan Pelajar is a competition based on forum by using Malay Language open for secondary schools, sixth form centres and Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE).
