EIGHT vehicles believed to have been long abandoned in public areas and along the roads of Simpang 15 to Simpang 103 at Menglait were removed on Thursday.

Six were towed away to a scrap yard through the ‘Nationwide Environmental Clean-Up Project on abandoned vehicles leading to the Deregistration of Vehicles’ campaign. The remaining two were taken away by vehicle owners or their representatives.

The removal of the vehicles was carried out by the Law Enforcement Unit of Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Municipal Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), Land Transport Department under the Ministry of Communications and M Han Enterprise, a disposal company.

Also joining the operation was the Tutong District Municipal Department.

Vehicles abandoned in public spaces will be removed under Section 84, Chapter 68 of the Road Traffic Act. Enforcement personnel will continue to conduct similar inspections in areas under the jurisdiction of the BSB Municipal Department.
