MINISTER of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong yesterday conducted a work visit to various Agricultural Development Areas (KKP) in the Belait District. The minister was joined by the steering committee and committee members of the Knowledge Convention 2018.
The delegation visited six companies and their respective KKP assigned to them. Through the visit, the delegation was able to better understand the companies, their history and contributions to the national economy.
Deputy Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw; Deputy Sate Mufti Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin also joined the visit.
Also present were Legislative Council member and Kampong Labi I Village Head Yang Berhormat Hanapi bin Mohd Siput, Acting General Accountant at the Treasury Department of the Ministry of Finance (MoF) Haji Md Yusop bin Haji Mahmud and Assistant Vice Chancellor (Research) at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Dr Abby Tan Chee Hong.
Among the companies and KKP visited were Warisan Jasa, Tropical Utama Farm Plantation and Rice Plantation KKP Lot Sengkuang located at the KKP, Rampayoh, Labi; Asia Enterprise located at KKP, Merangking, Labi; Marsya Farm located at KKP, Sungai Liang; and Brugoat Farming and Trading Sdn Bhd located at Ladang Sedia Ada Tunggulian, Sungai Liang.
The visit aimed to gather knowledge on the advancements notched in the various KKP in preparation for the planned programmes of the Knowledge Convention 2018, which will be held in conjunction with 72nd birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
