IN CONJUNCTION with the 8th Hafl Al-Takharruj (convocation ceremony) of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), seven Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) were signed to intensify strategic partnerships with overseas universities.
Minister of Education cum guest of honour Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman witnessed the MoU signing, which was held during the Graduates’ Night Ceremony at The Rizqun International Hotel last night.
UNISSA was represented by its Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal.
Signing on behalf of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) was its Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Dr Musa bin Ahmad, while the Islamic University of Kushtia, Bangladesh was represented by its Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Harun Ur-Rashid Askari.
The MoU with Shendi University, Sudan, was signed by its Vice Chancellor Professor Tagelsir Hassan Mohammed Ahmed; Dili University, Timor-Leste, was represented by its Rector Jose Agostino Da Costa Belo Pereira; Universitas Islam Negeri Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, Indonesia, was represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Culture and Humanities Professor Dr Maisah, M Pdi; Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Hasan Jufri Bawean, Indonesia was represented by Pipin Siutra; and Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Darunnajah, Indonesia was represented by Drs H Aunur Rofiq, MM
The MoU signing is in line with UNISSA’s efforts to announce to the outside world its existence as a leading Islamic university in Brunei Darussalam, and boost its reputation and position in the global arena of education.
UNISSA, in the effort to widen strategic networks for mutual benefit with other institutions, expects more collaboration in the academic field to be implemented. Similarly, in student mobility programmes, research, supervision, especially between Islamic universities in the Southeast Asian region.
