AS PART of efforts to enhance communication between the government and the public, the Information Department carried out its Personal Contact Programme at the residence of Village Head of Kampong Belais and Buda-Buda Haji Ahmad bin Mohd Hussain yesterday.
Also present during the programme were members of the village consultative council (MPK).
Acting Director of Information Hajah Noorashidah binti Haji Aliomar led the delegation comprising officers and staff members of the department’s headquarters and its Temburong District branch.
Among the topics highlighted by the MPK members and residents were issues on public facilities and infrastructures such as poor communication networks, road safety, controlling unhealthy activities along the rivers and prevention of social problems as well as to create a youth awareness programme on the effects of social problems.
The department shared the guidelines and correct procedures of hoisting the national flag and banners. They also introduced its mobile application, InfoDeptBN where users can receive latest news and information. They also shared on dealing with the spread of false news or information that can affect peace, causing confusion and fear among the public.
Representatives from the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) during the programme also shared that in 2005 the total solid waste collected was 189,000 tonnes and the recent initiative in using recycled bags has now been extended to five days a week.
A Radio Television Brunei (RTB) representative advised the need to switch from analogue to digital broadcasting so as to receive high-quality television and radio broadcasts.
