THE Civil Service Institute (IPA) continued with its efforts to provide knowledge and insight for participants of Retirement Preparation Courses at the Brunei-Muara District Senior Citizens Activity Centre (PKWE Brunei-Muara) in RPN Kampong Lambak Kanan yesterday.
Retirement Preparation Courses Coordiantor Pengiran Haji Md Ali Noor bin Pengiran Haji Ismail led the delegation of about 83 participants of the courses at the event.
The event began with a welcoming address by Pengiran Haji Md Ali Noor, where he briefed the participants about the programme.
A Zumba session was conducted by the participants.
Food and drinks stalls were also set up at the hall where the event was held.
Bolhassan bin Haji Abu Bakar, a participant of the course, said the programme was an important part of the Retirement Preparation Courses which will give participants some idea on what to expect after retirement.
“I am due to retire soon, and the course provided us important information through visits to businesses run by retirees as well as seminars. This visit to PKWE also gave us the availability of types of recreational activities designed for retirees,” he told the Bulletin. He added, “The participants were briefed on how to manage their finances after retirement and how to conduct social interaction between the community in their respective villages. These sessions helped us open our mindset on how to be more independent through various types of business activities.”
The visits also included tours to a madu kelulut farm and the Mangrove Paradise Resort, where the participants learnt on the possibility of entering into business in the future.
Bolhassan said the whole experience presented to the participants the many possibilities on how to be successful in life after retirement. He added that he was amazed at the facilities available at the PKWE Brunei-Muara.
The participants also had the opportunity to meet and talk with retirees at the centre. The centre is led by its Manager Haji Mohd Yusoff bin Haji Murni.
