SOFTBALLERS from the Pasadena, Chikara and Comets Ladies teams are currently undergoing intensive trainings even during the month of Ramadhan in preparations for the 2nd Ladies Masters Softball 2016 which will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia this August.
Coached by Mardi and Awangku Shuwari, the 13 softballers – selected to play for the Brunei Darussalam Ladies Masters Softball National Team – train three times a week including a bootcamp to boost their stamina and endurance every Wednesday at Boot Camp Sdn Bhd in Menglait, and field trainings at Field 2 of the Kebajikan Field of the Berakas Sports Complex.
The trainings, however, are still not enough according to Team Manager, Dayangku Rohhayati binti Pengiran Haji Hassan.
“We only train once a day in the evening, while other teams have more training sessions,” she said.
“We played some friendly matches against the national team and other ladies teams as well and we will try to organise more matches. We will be going against other countries like Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan, and our strongest opponents are from Japan.”
“We are ready, the ladies team’s stamina and endurance are increasing. We will surely try to give the other teams a challenge, but we need more exposures against other teams.”
“My message to my teammates is to train hard together and play hard together. One heart, One mind.”
“Our team is self sponsored but there are other private sponsors who aided our funds a bit, and we welcome anyone to donate sponsors in terms of monetary funds to aid us in our trip, as we will bring the country’s name to the world,” she added.
