HOUSE keys were presented to seven families under the Julangan Titah Project yesterday.
The Deputy Minister of Development, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar, was on hand to deliver the keys to the recipients.
Talking to the media, he expressed hope that more government and private agencies would step forward, identify deserving families and participate in the project.
The Julangan Titah Project is an initiative of the Office of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam which is implemented with the collaboration of the Ministry of Development through the Public Works Department, Land Department and Survey Department with the Royal Brunei Land Forces acting as the Secretariat of the project.
One of the recipients, Faridah binti Kamis, conveyed her gratitude to His Majesty for the monarch’s attention to the people and helping her family by providing a safe place to live in.
Her family of eight had been living for the last five years in a storage area on their land in Kg Tanah Jambu using a generator for power and water from the well.
Currently, the family is living in a four-room house provided under the Julangan Titah Project.
The Julangan Titah Project is an initiative that identifies families that are currently living in unsafe conditions and in need of proper housing.
The other six recipients who received keys to their new houses under the project were Fauzanah binti Ahad, Hajah Murah binti Tamit, Samanah binti Metussin, Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Kamis, Siti Nor Manja Lina Wati binti Haji Abdul Rahman, and Siti Nor Manja Marne binti Haji Abdul Rahman.
So far, nine houses in Kg Selatan Mumong in Belait District, Kg Sinaut in Tutong District and Kg Pengkalan Batu, Kg Delima Dua and Kg Tanah Jambu in Brunei-Muara District as well as one in Temburong District have been chosen under the project.
Using the Innovative Building Method (IBM), the project was implemented within a month, creating the houses for the recipients in time for the festive season.
