UNIVERSITI Teknologi Brunei (UTB) held an award ceremony for the Dean’s List and Co-Curricular Activities recipients yesterday in conjunction with the UTB Convocation Ceremony 2018.
The guest of honour was Acting Minister of Education Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh. Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Jefriah; other members of the royal family; Vice-Chancellor of UTB Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman and senior officials from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and UTB were also present. The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by a welcoming speech by the Vice-Chancellor of UTB.
The event continued with the award presentation to the students by the guest of honour. This year, 29 students received the Dean’s List Award from UTB School of Business, School of Computing and Informatics, and Faculty of Engineering.
Meanwhile, seven students who excelled in co-curricular activities also received awards.
There were six award categories for the Co-Curricular Activities: Outstanding Life Skill Achiever, Outstanding Community Service Achiever, Outstanding Cultural Activities Award, Sports Man of UTB, Sports Woman of UTB and Religious Awards.
Among the recipients was Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muhammad Abdul Qayyum bin Pengiran Sura Negara Pengiran Anak Haji Muhammad Bey Muntassir, who received an award under the Outstanding Community Service Achiever category.
The Dean’s List Award was introduced in 2015, which gives recognition to first, second, and third year students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in their studies.
