SABRE Travel Network (Brunei) Sdn Bhd launched its two-day 15th Sabre Brunei Travel Fair at the International Convention Centre, Berakas yesterday.
Minister of Communications Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof officiated the event.
The travel fair, organised by Sabre Travel Network (Brunei), provides travel partners – including airlines, banks, medical and travel insurance suppliers, national tourist offices, hotels and travel agents – a unique platform to showcase their products and services.
The fair is open to all travellers, providing them with the convenience of shopping for a wide range of travel deals under a single roof.
Chairman of Sabre Travel Network (Brunei) and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) Karam Chand said the fair is an important event for the nation, and Sabre Travel Network (Brunei) is proud to once again organise the event for Bruneians, the expat community, airlines, travel trade partners, national tourist offices and other business partners.
“We thank our partners and travellers for their participation throughout the years, and look forward to their continued support during the 15th edition of the Sabre Brunei Travel Fair,” said Karam Chand. “With the support of our partners, we will deliver new and unique content to travellers in search of their dream vacations. Over 13,600 visitors visited the Brunei Travel Fair last year, and we are confident the numbers will increase this year.”
Karam Chand also encouraged visitors to get bargain deals and also find out more on the various offers and attractions the different destinations have as the Brunei Travel Fair provides a carnival atmosphere for families, the children and individual visitors, with lucky draw prizes throughout the two days.
The attractions include RB ball pit, chance to win RB branded merchandise, run for the Royal Skies miles, and information on new destinations, services, products and other exciting developments at the national airline.
Meanwhile, in a press statement, RB Executive General Manager (Commercial) Martin Aeberli said they are delighted to highlight RB’s new destinations during this year’s Sabre Brunei Travel Fair which include service to Taipei starting in December 2018, to Tokyo in March 2019, and new non-stop service to London scheduled to launch on October 28.
“The event is also ideal to engage with travellers and industry partners and to avail exclusive promotions,” said Aeberli. “As one of the biggest supporters of the travel fair, we are also providing daily lucky draws with amazing prizes, interactive activities and agent support.”
Participating travel agents are Anthony Tours & Travel Agency, At-Taqwa Travel Tours, Century Travel Centre, Dar El Ehsan Travel, Darussalam Holdings, Freme Travel Services, Grace Travel Agency, JJ Tour Service, Pan Bright Travel Service, Southern Cross Travel Agencies and Straits Central Agencies.
The national tourism organisations attending the Brunei Travel Fair include the Brunei Tourism Board, the Korean National Tourist Office, the Ministry of Tourism – Republic of Indonesia, Sarawak Tourism Board, Taiwan Tourist Bureau and Tourism Authority Thailand. Baiduri Bank Berhad, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), Korean Airlines, Standard Chartered Bank and RB have also opened their booths to support participating travel agents and to assist visitors.
Medical and insurance services are offered by Bangkok Hospital, Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council and Takaful Brunei Am. Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines are also supporting the travel fair by providing attractive fares to participating travel agents, along with lucky draw prizes.
