A RECENT prime discussion on regional education under the theme of ‘The 21st Century Educational Institution and Technology 4.0’ was viewed as an important step in the ongoing efforts to produce outstanding and exemplary educators.
Conducted by Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB), the session brought together educational and religious experts from across the region in a discussion centred around contemporary issues on educational development, educational institutions and current technology in their respective countries.
The guest speakers were Vice Chancellor of the Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) of Malaysia Professor Dato’ Dr Mohammad Shatar Sabran, Deputy Rector of the Education University in Indonesia Professor Didi Sukyadi, Officer-in Charge, Office of the President at the Philippine Normal University in the Philippines Dr Maria Antoinette C Montealegre and Dean of the Faculty of Education at Kasetsart University in Thailand Associate Professor Dr Pattamavaddi Lehmongkol.
The discussion was also participated by Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Dato’ Dr Mohammad Shatar Sabran, Acting Ra’es of KUPU SB Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang.
The session provided a platform for regional educational institutions to get together in close cooperation towards enhancing the systems, administrations and managements of their respective educational entities.
The pressing issue of the continuing evolution of technology was also mentioned, as a means of producing competent educators who are capable of meeting the increasingly complex challenges of 21st Century teaching and learning.
