BAIDURI Bank organised the Global Market Outlook: Identifying the Challenges and Opportunities seminar at the Indera Kayangan Ballroom, The Empire Hotel & Country Club during the weekend.
The seminar aimed to equip customers with the tools and knowledge to make better-informed investment decisions.
Baiduri Bank gathered a team of specialists from financial partners at DBS, Franklin Templeton and AB Maximus and SGX Academy, to conduct talks.
Present at the event was Head of Retail Banking and Branch Network at Baiduri Bank Pengiran Azaleen bin Pengiran Dato Haji Mustapha.
Pengiran Azaleen said the seminar was part of the bank’s continuous efforts to facilitate clients in preparing and strategising their investments.
“This seminar will look at the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the global financial markets, with a focus on the US-China relations and emerging markets to help navigate the evolving economies,” he said.
Guests comprised Wealth Management customers and Baiduri Capital investors.
In the morning session, Foreign Exchange and Rates Strategist at DBS Bank Eugene Leow hosted a talk titled ‘Currencies: What went wrong in 2018? What’s next?’ He shared his concerns and hopes for the challenges and opportunities in view of the US rate hike outlook, among others.
The afternoon session began with a talk by Assistant Vice President, Financial Institutions at Franklin Templeton Investments Edmund Leong. In his talk titled ‘US Equity: Is the US equity bull market dying soon? Could this bull keep running in 2019?’ he spoke on the firm’s views on the challenges and opportunities in the wake of the US’ growth.
This was followed by a talk by Associate Director at AB Maximus and SGX Academy Puah Soon Lim, titled ‘Singapore stock market: Is it a good time to invest?’ where he looked at the prospect for Singapore in light of the trade tensions and geopolitical developments affecting global markets.
The event concluded with a panel discussion moderated by Group Treasurer at Baiduri Bank Awangku Nor Muhammad Nizam bin Pengiran Haji Tengah as well as a question-and-answer session with the speakers.
Head of Wealth Management at Baiduri Bank Peng Eng Soon and other senior financial planners were also present.
