THE Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) hosted a ‘We Care’ event yesterday for corporate companies as part of its initiative to realise the mission “to make a meaningful difference through personalised, excellent and quality healthcare services that are safe, efficient and people-centred”.
In his welcoming speech, PJSC Executive Director Dr Mazrul Adimin bin Haji Awang Besar highlighted the fact that health is one of the strategic focal points of the Brunei government to achieve Vision 2035.
“Together with its stakeholders, PJSC will continue to strive towards providing the best quality healthcare service for patients by capturing the essence of its slogan ‘We Care’,” said Dr Mazrul Adimin, who is also Consultant Surgeon at the Maxillofacial, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Centre (MFPRSC).
A talk was presented by Dr Dayangku Nur’ashikin binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Tengah, Consultant Neurologist and Director of the Brunei Neuroscience, Stroke and Rehabilitation Centre (BNSRC).
She highlighted the importance of understanding stroke and its symptoms, and detailed the types of treatment offered at BNSRC.
Dr Dayangku Nur’ashikin added, “Our mission for the neurological services is to achieve sustainability and to be on par with the international standards of healthcare.
“We also want to ensure that those with neurological conditions have a timely access to a high quality, comprehensive, coordinated, patient-centred and expert service.”
Consultant Medical Oncology of The Brunei Cancer Centre (TBCC) Dr Lu Shir Kiong then delivered his talk where he gave an overview of the cancer care services and facilities available at PJSC.
He highlighted the roles and contributions of the centre in promoting cancer prevention and raising awareness to cancer survivors and cancer patients as well as the general public.
To be an innovative specialist centre, PJSC is actively conducting and participating in cancer research by collaborating with international cancer institutions and Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD).
The MFPRSC Director Dato Seri Laila Jasa Dr N Ravidranathan presented his talk where he elaborated on the scope of clinical services that the centre offers.
He also listed out the various types of reconstructive and facial aesthetic surgery undertaken at the MFPRSC, giving examples of a variety of conditions ranging from birth defects to trauma and tumours in the head and neck regions.
After the presentations, the guests comprising the Singapore High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Lim Hong Huai, members of foreign military attaches and representatives of corporate companies were taken for a tour of the PJSC.
PJSC is a newly-built beachfront hospital consisting of three world-class centre of excellence namely TBCC, BNSRC and MFPRSC – all equipped with state-of-the-art medical and rehabilitative care facilities.
