THE Youth Development Centre (PPB) through its Self-Development Programme yesterday held a passing out parade and prize presentation ceremony for the Best Trainee of the Youth Development Programme of the January 2016 session. Some 136 youths participated in the programme.
The event was attended by the guest of honour Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports together with senior officers, officers, teachers and staffs of the PPB as well as the parents of the trainees.
The event was aimed at instilling self-esteem, competitiveness and self-confidence in the youths.
It also served as preparation for work placement.
A total of 29 trainees received their respective awards from five categories based on the programme and categories as part of the inspiration prize, including two best overall awards for both men and women.

The recipients of the best overall award were Awangku Mohd Izzuddin bin Pengiran Haji Soffian Maharuddin and Dayangku Nurul Hafizah binti Pengiran Shamsul Bahrin. The awards were presented to the recipients by the permanent secretary.
The guest of honour urged the trainees not to waste the skills that they acquired from the centre and to develop the nation as well as themselves. She added that they are fortunate to have been chosen to study at the centre because a lot of people had attempted to but were not successful.
Meanwhile, Mohd Awangku Izzuddin, who took a plumbing course at the centre, expressed his happiness after completing the course. “I will look for a job that is related to my course in the field of plumbing,” he said.
Dayangku Nurul Hafizah, who took an Information Communication and Technology course, said she learnt to be self-disciplined from the training provided and looks forward to finding a job.
