MEMBERS of the Legislative Council (LegCo) visited the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) under the Ministry of Communications yesterday.
LegCo members were briefed on security measures, operation of Brunei International Airport and air traffic control. LegCo members also toured the latest RBA airplane A320neo.
The working visit aimed to provide LegCo members a closer look at the functions, roles, operation and services under the DCA at the Brunei International Airport to prepare for the dialogue session between members of the LegCo and Ministry of Communications in November.
The visit also provided detailed insights on other service providers like airline companies, restaurants and other retail services that provided employment to 467 locals.
LegCo members were also briefed by personnel of the Royal Customs and Excise Department as well as Immigration and National Registration Department on their roles.
LegCo members toured the runway of the airport. Work to upgrade the runway in phases was completed in November 2017.
LegCo members were also briefed on fire safety for aircrafts at the airport.
