THE Brunei Darussalam Motorcycle Association (PEMODA) in collaboration with the Land Transport Department (JPD) held the Projek Rintis Penunggang Berhemah (Courteous Rider Pilot Project) every Saturday for a period of six months at the JPD in Sungai Akar, with the last one held recently.
The project was held to promote awareness on safety and road etiquette among motorcycle owners, along with mitigating and addressing issues involving motorcycle accidents.
The participants comprised PEMODA members, members from other registered motorcycle associations as well as government and private sector employees.
The programme comprised two sessions – a lecture (technical) and demonstration (practical).
PEMODA President H010 Pengiran Haji Redzuan bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad and PEMODA Vice President H517 Shahrin bin Shahbudin delivered the lecture.
PEMODA Elite Marshals F125 Muhammad Hamizan bin Amit, F463 Yussuf bin Haji Emrin and F723 Haji Shahazeem Shohainee bin Haji Thani facilitated the riding demonstration, which included proper procedures in emergency braking, avoiding blind spot and riding in staggered formation.
The project was an early step for the JPD to form a curriculum specifically for motorcycle licence holders.
