THE 10th Borneo LNG Conference and Games 2018, themed ‘Road to Excellence – LNG Asset for the Future,’ was launched at the Jerudong Park Garden yesterday.
This year’s event, which continues until tomorrow, is hosted by Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd and represented by over a hundred employees alongside their counterparts from Malaysia LNG (Malaysia) and Badak LNG (Indonesia).
Brunei LNG Senior General Plant Manager Haji Mohd Jaafar bin Haji Bakar highlighted in his opening speech the important role LNG (liquefied natural gas)companies play in bridging the gap between now and the future, with regards to energy transition.
“In order for us to be here, we have to be in an excellent state so that’s the nature of this year’s conference and games which is ‘Road to Excellence – LNG Asset for the Future’,” he said.
“The main thing in the LNG brotherhood is that we are going to stay together and stay connected and face the future together.”
The theme for this year’s conference revolves around a growing need for assets to adapt to a changing business landscape and ensuring assets are fit to operate in the future, with particular focus on the following key elements: Asset Integrity and Process Safety, New Technology and Digitalisation, Production Excellence and Continuous Improvement.
During the games, participants from all three sites will compete in the four sporting categories of golf, bowling, badminton and football.
“I hope the games will further promote the spirit of good friendship and healthy competition among players,” said Haji Mohd Jaafar.
Following the speech, Haji Mohd Jaafar, together with Production Vice President of Badak LNG Rahmat Safruddin, and Senior General Manager of Malaysia LNG Pandai Othman, cut ribbons tied to balloons in their companies’ corporate colours, to mark the launching of the 10th Borneo LNG Conference and Games 2018.
The Borneo LNG Conference and Games was initiated by Brunei LNG in 2007 to establish relations with Malaysia LNG and Badak LNG, and provide a platform for the three companies to come together and exchange knowledge and skills, while sharing the best practices, and exploring new ideas in both technical and non-technical areas.
