THE Cyc-Walk 2018 held at the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah (PMMPMHAMB) Hospital in Tutong yesterday emphasised the aims of the Ministry of Health (MoH) to encourage a healthy lifestyle through active participation in sporting activities for the community.
Acting Permanent Secretary at the MoH Dr Haji Zulaidi bin Haji Abdul Latif attended the event as a personal representative of the Minister of Health.
Also in attendance were Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong, Tutong District Officer Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Management) at the MoH Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin, Director General of Medical and Health Services, directors, senior officers of the MoH, penghulus and village heads.
The Cyc-Walk 2018, which combines cycling and walking, was also held to commemorate the 20th anniversary of PMMPMHAMB Hospital. The hospital began its services on August 11, 1998.
The event aimed to foster stronger relations and strengthen unity among the sporting community. At the same time, it encouraged people to fill in their spare time with recreational and healthy activities.
The event included a 15km cycle expedition that started and ended at the hospital, a 4km walk, donations for the Medical Welfare Fund for patients registered under the Medical Welfare Section, as well as donations for the refurbishment of Surau As-Salam of the PMMPMHAMB Hospital, a lucky draw, and presentation of gifts to children and elderly persons active in sports.
