PUSAT Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam will host the 17th Pusat Ehsan Charity Golf Tournament 2018 at the RBA Golf Club in Berakas from November 23-25.
Golfers from Brunei, Sabah, Sarawak and other regional nations are invited to compete in the charity sporting event.
This was revealed in a press conference by Chairman of the tournament’s organising committee Seruji bin Haji Setia at the RBA Golf Club yesterday.
This is the second time the tournament is held this year. The first edition in March 2018 saw an overwhelming response of 300 golfers.
“This time we expect more golfers will participate in the tournament,” Seruji said.
He said the tournament is open to all golfers locally and abroad.
“We have developed now for a few years, the theme ‘Perpetual Care’, reflected in and around the venerated golf ball to underscore our continued concern and dedication for the disabled under the care of Pusat Ehsan. We do not feel there is at this time a need for change. This is the theme, the centre-piece of the tournament,” he said.
The tournament which features the Patron’s Challenge Trophy, is also open to ladies and senior golfers. Registration fee of BND100 includes breakfast, lunch and the use of buggy.
The tournament will be conducted on the basis of ‘System 36 (Stroke Play)’. A Special Sunday Gross Event will be conducted FOC for 12 Top Gross Players vying for the Challenge Trophy.
“We thank all for the support especially RBA Golf Club and CityNeon, our event partners and the Borneo Bulletin and Media Permata, our exclusive print media supporter,” the chairman said.
Seruji added there will be more prizes for Hole-in-One and Bull’s Eye winners. Participants also have the opportunity to test their putting skills in the ‘Putt-Stop Challenge’ on the Practice Green between #5 & #7.
Senior Trustee of Pusat Ehsan and Organising Committee Advisor Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Alimin bin Haji Abdul Wahab said the tournament aims to raise funds for Pusat Ehsan. Pusat Ehsan, as a non-government, non-profit charity organisation, derives its funds totally from donations and contributions from the community.
“We are anticipating about 250 or more golfers this year. We’re excited to put on another tournament to help these students achieve a meaningful life in the community. Our hope is to continue to partner with businesses in the local community to make this tournament another successful event,” he added.
