AS THE country reaches 35 years of independence next year, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin proposed more variation in the next National Day celebrations by organising events that demonstrate higher spirit of patriotism through participation at all levels by the people of the country.
The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports made the remark in his capacity as the Chairman of the 35th National Day Celebration Executive Committee in its first meeting held at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports building in Jalan Kebangsaan yesterday.
The 35th National Day celebration will retain this year’s theme Menjayakan Wawasan Negara, which is to accomplish the Brunei Vision 2035 aspirations.
“We don’t want the theme to be merely rhetoric… but we want the theme to become a real spirit and motivation for all to work together, in unity and cooperation for implementing the country’s main agendas in different sectors,” he added.
The minister also said he welcomes views, suggestions and advice from all the executive committee members based on a whole of nation approach.
He also reminded that any format of the 35th National Day celebration must continuously be based on upholding the values of the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB).
Meanwhile, the minister announced that the logo making competition for the 35th National Day Celebration is open to the public, with special emphasis to the youth as the next generation of leaders.
Grand Chamberlain Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Penggawa Laila Bentara Istiadat Diraja Dalam Istana Pengiran Haji Alauddin bin Pengiran Paduka Tuan Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, deputy ministers, commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), permanent secretaries, and Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) as well as other committee members were also present.
