A WARM mix of excitement and elation could be felt blanketing the halls of the International Convention Centre (ICC) yesterday, as 233 graduates of
Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) received their certificates during the university college’s convocation ceremony.
For many of them, it was indeed a long-awaited moment of pride, as they shared the experience and challenges they encountered throughout their studies at the institution.
Haji Mustazan bin Maidin, a graduate of the Religious Teaching (Usuluddin) degree programme and currently teaching at Lumapas Religious School, expressed his gratitude to Allah the Almighty for easing his journey during his four years of study at the university college.
“With all this knowledge gained, I am equipped to further transfer my knowledge and experience to the younger generation,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dayangku Nurul Haizum Azidah binti Pengiran Azmi, a degree graduate in Religious Teaching (Syariah), beamed with pride as she recounted all the challenges and struggles in her studies at KUPU SB.
“As a university student, I faced many challenges and obstacles. While studying, my parents fell ill and I got involved in an accident. Alhamdulillah, despite all that, I managed to complete my studies smoothly,” she said.
Giving words of advice for her fellow students, she added, “Those who are still studying in the university, grab the opportunity to be actively involved in co-curriculum activities to gain more experience and, most importantly, do not do all your work at the last minute.”
Another degree graduate, Abdul Wafi bin Haji Abdul Rahman, also shared his experience at the university college.
“I gained a lot of valuable knowledge, which taught me to think critically and look at things more maturely,” he said. “Alhamdulillah, the university college has helped me change and mould my character as a religious educator with good values. Everything that I’ve learnt at the university college will be practically useful in my daily life.”
He continued, “For me, the challenges of university include time management, family and lecturer commitment. One of the most challenging things was producing a quality thesis, but I managed to produce a useful thesis in the end, Insya Allah.”
Sharing his plans following his graduation, he said, “I will be continuing my studies and doing a Masters in Religious Teaching (Islamic Education) for two years.
I will give my best efforts again in this new chapter of my life at KUPU SB.”
