THE use of information technology (IT) can facilitate, expedite and expand access to delivering a better service to the public, said Permanent Secretary (Corporate Affairs and Public Administration) at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Haji Roslan bin Haji Taja’ah.
He made this statement at the prize presentation ceremony of the 21st National Quality Control Circle (KKC) Convention at the PMO yesterday.
“In the current era of technology development, it is reasonable for us to see the possibility in integrating IT to find solutions and implementation as well as evaluation of effectiveness towards continuous improvement,” he added.
“I believe that with the KKC approach, departments can achieve their goal towards Brunei Vision 2035. With the achievement of the KKC project, it can improve productivity and quality services as well as encourage innovation,” said Haji Roslan.
He added that the Civil Service Institute (IPA) is improving its capabilities and continues to find efficient methods to give meaningful service to the public.
Haji Roslan, as the guest of honour, presented prizes at the event organised by the IPA.
First place winner GST team from the Survey Department of the Ministry of Development (MoD)received a trophy, certificates and BND6,000 for their project Kelewatan Mengemaskini Rekod Pengeluaran Barang Gunahabis.
Meanwhile, the Infofoto team from the Information Department of the PMO won second place and received a trophy, certificates and BND4,000 for their project Permohonan Gambar Negatif Filem Lambat Diproses – Pilot Project 1992 followed by the LIFESAVER995 team from the Fire and Rescue Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs for their project titled Meningkatkan Kesedaran Orang Ramai bagi Kepentingan Memiliki Alat Pemadam Api earning the group a trophy, certificates and BND2,000.
Six other teams from government departments received certificates and BND1,000.
The BAKTI team from the Public Works Department (JKR) of the MoD won the Best Performance Award and received certificates and BND1,000 while the Survey Department received the Special Award for their active involvement in the KKC.
The Best Facilitator Award was presented to Hajah Nona Lieza binti Haji Yahya.
Nine teams representing three ministries presented their projects in different categories including public service, cost and time savings among others.
