PSJD hammered Besa FC 7-0 in the Al Idrus FA Cup at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex yesterday to set up a mouth-watering showdown in the quarterfinals with Al Idrus FT.
The Tutong outfit are huge favourites in the last 16 but will be evenly balanced in the last eight with both sides also aiming for the league crown.
Haji Annuar bin Haji Seidil bagged a hat-trick with goals in the 10th, 65th and 66th minute while Tawang Siba grabbed a brace in the 57th and 68th minute.
Mohd Noor Litoh and Hairul Amir bin Abdullah also added their names to the scoresheet in the straightforward win with both goals coming in the first half.
Meanwhile, Rimba Star secured progress in the next round after emerging victorious through a 3-2 penalty shootout win against PMS after a 1-1 draw in normal time.
PMS took the lead through Johan bin Haji Zinin in the 41st minute but Rimba drew level through Sajulai bin Ahmad in the 61st minute.
Endyvyzunny bin Haji Zainuddin, Sajulai and Yassin bin Haji Md Noor were successful from the spot for Rimba while Haji Divet bin Haji Zinin and Suhaili bin Haji Zinin converted for PMS.
Rimba Star will meet TJ FT in the last eight with the reward of winning the tie being a meeting with the winner of the match between PSJD and Al Idrus FT.
The competition continues tomorrow with RB Veteran taking on Stoneville FT at the Royal Brunei Recreation Club Field and BSRC Veteran locking horns with Terazza FC at the Arena Field in Seria.
