MUSLIMS throughout the country will mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in two days’ time this Tuesday, November 20 (corresponding to 12th of Rabiulawal in the Islamic calendar).
The grand assembly and procession for Maulidur Rasul will take place simultaneously nationwide beginning at 7am, with the focus at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien in the capital.
A rehearsal was held yesterday at the Taman to ensure the smooth running of the day’s proceedings.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Chairperson of the Executive Committee for Major Islamic Calendar Events for 1440 Hijrah was present to witness the rehearsal.
Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang as well as members of the celebration working committee was also present.
According to the Co-Secretary of the Working Committee for the Maulud Grand Assembly and Procession Haji Madzneh bin Haji Mohd Noor, the procession this year will take a shorter route compared to previous year’s, covering 2.3km instead of 3.7km, beginning at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien and passing through Jalan Elizabeth 2, Jalan Stoney, Jalan Pehin Dato Isa, Jalan Tasek, Jalan Kianggeh, then leading to Jalan McArthur and Jalan Sultan, before heading back to the Taman.
Participants are advised to take note of the new route and adhere to the instructions given on the day and arrive early at the venue.
Over 13,000 participants, representing 126 teams, are expected at the procession on Tuesday.
The theme for this year’s event is Tarbiyah Rasulullah Membawa Rahmat Dalam Berkeluarga.
The Tarbiyah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in shaping an excellent family institution is demonstrated by the Prophet (pbuh) himself, who sets a leading example by practising perfect personality and character traits in daily routine with family.
The Prophet (pbuh) taught others to be good, sincere, trustworthy and fair when living in a family, and set an example himself by leading a Mahmudah (praiseworthy) life and by being a loving and kindhearted husband to his wives on top of carrying out his various tasks and responsibilities.
