A TOTAL of 189 residents of RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau in Mukim Mentiri turned up at the village’s Recreational Park to cast their votes for the election of a new village head yesterday.
Legislative Council member cum Kampong Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun and Pelumpong Village Head Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Mohamed bin Pengiran Haji Osman @ Othman, Brunei-Muara District Officer Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim, Mukim Mentiri Penghulu Pengarah Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Naim and officers from the Brunei-Muara District Office were also present.
The sole candidate for the new village head nomination was Mohammad Hilmy bin Haji Ahmad, 47, who has lived in the village for over three years. He works as an Assistant Manager at PAR Corporation Sdn Bhd, Brunei-Muara District Officer highlighted the importance of selecting the best village head as it will determine the future of the village.
