SIX Year 9-10 students from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Secondary School are participating in an International Education, Culture, Exchange and Homestay programme in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, from November 29 until December 6.

The group left for Japan with the school Principal Chong Li Chen and school teaching staff member Zamany bin Haji Md Rais.

The participants are hosted by Japanese families to gain a first-hand experience of Japan’s customs, traditions, geographical aspects and economic issues.

During their eight-day stay, they will meet students of various nationalities to exchange views and networking opportunities in education, communication and others.

The students will visit places of interest in Wakayama Prefecture such as industries, places of trade and businesses.

It is hoped that the programme creates a sense of awareness in energy saving and nature conservation, two areas where Japan particularly excels on the global stage.

The visitors are also scheduled to visit the Governor of Wakayama Prefecture, and the mayors of Yura and Kimino, during their visit to Kobe and several other places of interest.
