THE Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) at the Ministry of Communications (MinCom) held a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony at the Brunei International Airport (BIA) Surau yesterday to mark the International Civil Aviation Day 2018 that falls on every December 7.
Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications Dr Haji Supry bin Haji Awang Ladi was the guest of honour. Senior officials from DCA and MinCom also participated.
The ceremony began with mass Sunnat Hajat prayer and Asar prayer led by Imam of the BIA Surau Pengiran Haji Md Ismail bin Pengiran Haji Tuah.
This was followed by the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil, and the recitation of Doa Kesyukuran by Imam Pengiran Haji Md Ismail to seek blessings from Allah the Almighty for the safety and prosperity of the air services and passengers.
The International Civil Aviation Day is celebrated to raise awareness on the role played by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), as the body responsible for setting the international standards for the safety of air transport.
This year’s celebration carries the theme ‘Working Together to Ensure No Country is Left Behind’ and it reflects the initiatives of ICAO to assist member countries in implementing Standard and Recommended Practices (SARPs) in civil aviation.
