THE Embassy of the State of Qatar in Brunei Darussalam hosted a dinner reception at The Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong yesterday, to mark the National Day of the State of Qatar.
The guest of honour was Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, who attended the event with his spouse, Datin Hajah Nahriah binti Haji Asbi.
The event began with the national anthems of both countries and a recitation of verses from Al-Quran by guest Qari Mohamad bin Ali.
This was followed with the cake-cutting ceremony by the guest of honour and Charge d’Affaires ad Interim of the State of Qatar Abdulla Majed Al-Jassim.
Also joining in the cake-cutting were Charge d’Affaires ad Interim of the Sultanate of Oman Mahmood Khamis Mohamed Al-Hinai and Charge d’Affaires ad Interim of the State of Kuwait Ali Al-Astad.
The event proceeded with the presentation of tokens of appreciation to the guest of honour and his spouse, by Abdulla Majed Al-Jassim.
Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between Qatar and Brunei Darussalam in 2008, the two countries have concluded numerous cooperative agreements and memorandums of understanding, which led to closer cooperation in various fields.
Members of the Diplomatic Corps in Brunei Darussalam, senior government officials and invited guests were also present.
