OVER BND461,000 Zakat funds have been distributed for the new school year, according to the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB).
A total of BND3,300 from the funds in the form of coupons for stationery and other school items was distributed to over 66 needy families in the Belait District yesterday.
The donations were handed over by Acting Secretary of the MUIB Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sabtu at the Bismi and Pustaka Remaja classroom supplies stores located on Jalan Pretty, Kuala Belait.
Several officers and staff members from MUIB were also present.
The donations were made to ease the recipients’ financial burden and enable them to purchase stationeries and other school items for their children in preparation of the 2019 academic year.
