SOME 64 rover scouts of the first ASEAN Rover Moot contingent participated in a series of traditional and cultural activities at the Mumong Sports Complex on Wednesday evening as part of their three-day stay in the Belait District.
The visit aimed to introduce the rich cultural and traditional heritage of the indigenous groups in the district, particularly the Puak Dusun and Puak Belait, as well as for the scouts to discover various attractions and cultural heritage within the Ulu Belait area.
Activities carried out during the evening included a gulingtangan showcase by scout members of the Open Troop Scouts Sungai Liang 3040 and traditional dance performances by members of the Puak Belait and Puak Dusun communities in the district.
The ASEAN Rover Moot scouts tried their hand at playing the gulingtangan and performing traditional dances under the guidance of members of both indigenous groups.
The group also explored the Ulu Belait area yesterday, visiting landmarks such as the Wasai Wong Kadir, Mendaram Besar Longhouse, and Luagan Lalak Recreational Park.
The contingent will also plant seedlings in the surrounding area of Kampong Sungai Mau as part of the environmental project outlined under first ASEAN Rover Moot.
The scouts will continue their activities next in the Brunei-Muara District.
