A TOTAL of 33 officers and staff members from departments under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) are attending a three-day workshop on Penyuntingan Desertasi ke Buku organised by the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) through its Book Planning Section from yesterday.

The workshop is being held at DBP’s Sarmayuda Hall at Old Airport in Berakas.

Acting Deputy Director of DBP Dr Haji Mohd Ali bin Haji Radin in his welcoming remark, on behalf of Acting Director of DBP Suip bin Haji Abdul Wahab, said editing requires a high level of skill and knowledge so that the books reach the standards of a good publication.

“Editor’s role serves as a link between the author and reader in the process of producing or publishing a book,” he added.

He also emphasised that the workshop encouraged editors to learn and increase their knowledge particularly on the editing of Buku Ilmiah (scientific books).

The workshop aims to educate editors on the basic skills and to share with the participants effective editing techniques in line with the department’s core services.

The workshop is facilitated by a speaker from Malaysia, Dr Roosfa Hashim.

The closing ceremony of the workshop will be held tomorrow.
