AS PART of its annual tradition, St James’ School, Kuala Belait held a general orientation earlier this week for Year 5 to Year 11 students to inculcate the value of education, the importance of passing the examination, motivation and instilling discipline, among others.
In a short but inspiring speech the school’s new Principal Riman binti Sitai urged the students to understand and reflect on the reasons why they are in school. She also challenged every student, in particular for Year 11, to step up for this year’s BGCE ‘O’ Level examinations.
She also encouraged all students to change their attitude and prove their worth to compensate their parents’ financial support.
She also took the time to discuss the school’s vision, which includes being students of a progressive school, as well as inspiring other students to constantly pursue the school’s vision by meeting their guiding principles in succeeding academically.
Meanwhile, Discipline Master Haji Daud bin Akup reiterated the school’s rules and procedures, and reminded them of their proper behaviour while in school, while Deputy Principal Leonardo Amo also presented and explained in a series of motivational videos regarding determination, studying hard, self-awareness, ‘winning’, and positive attitude as essential ingredients to success.
The event culminated with the signing of the specially prepared banner to signify the students’ commitment to do their very best in both academic and co-curriculum for the 2019 school year and beyond.
