AN APPRECIATION dinner was held for the working committee and participants of the Aftercare programme last Saturday.
Minister of Home Affairs cum guest of honour Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong presented certificates of appreciation to the Brunei Darussalam committee and six participants of the Aftercare programme.
The programme aimed to assist former inmates in starting their new lives and integrating back into society via a business-oriented project which kicked off on January 26 at the Royal Brunei Recreation Club.
The programme – jointly organised by the Prisons Department and institutions under it, as well as several non-government organsations (NGOs) – teaches former inmates the basic skills required to generate an income, independence as well as how to contribute to the economy and live in harmony with the community.
Managing Director of Riza Group (one of the NGOs) and Aftercare Brunei Darussalam Committee (PROTEM) member Pengiran Haji Haris bin Pengiran Haji Duraman presented a donation to the guest of honour.
