THE Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) supplied two families with life-changing gifts last Saturday as a practical route out of poverty.
Led by MUIB Acting Secretary Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Akop, the delegation first visited the house of Fadilah bin Tamit in Kampong Burong Lepas, to deliver a lawn mower and a bicycle.
Fadilah expressed his gratitude for the gifts, which will provide him with the opportunity to earn a daily income and support his family financially.
The second beneficiary was Puasa bin Haji Besar in Kampong Kulapis, where a new sewing machine was presented to his wife who makes a living as a seamstress.
Both contributions cost BND1,269, which came from the Zakat funds for the poor and destitute.
