THE Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) marked International Customs Day 2019 during the Bandarku Ceria event at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien on Sunday.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah was the guest of honour.
Deputy Ministers of Finance and Economy, permanent secretaries as well as officers from RCED and the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) also attended.
The highlight of the event was the cycle and walkathon around the capital.
The 10km cycle was flagged off by the guest of honour, who also participated in the event.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy Dato Seri Paduka Awang Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman officiated the 3.5km walkathon.
In line with the theme of the International Customs Day ‘Smart Borders: Seamless Trade, Travel and Transportation,’ RCED organised an exhibition explaining the process of customs in facilitating trade with several government agencies and statutory agencies including private sectors.
The event was enlivened with a colouring event for children.
