Ranggau hits the cinema today

A LOCAL horror film entitled Ranggau, produced by QD Roses Vision Production, premiered at Arena Cineplex, Kiulap last night.

The guest of honour was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.

Ranggau tells a story about a black magic practitioner who preserves supernatural creatures or Ranggau for his own benefit, sacrificing his own family and terrifying the people around him.

It is set in two timelines, starting with the past. Moviegoers can witness how the story unfolds as the Ranggau haunts family members until the present day.

The horror flick is directed by Roslee Metali with local casts comprising Haji Firdaus, Haji Shamri, Suzana, Diana, Nysa, Ibnue, Hassnol, Shah, Rina and Taufiq Elyas.

According to Director Roslee, filming began in April 2014 and the crew endured challenges and hurdles along the way.

He expressed his appreciation to all involved in the success of the movie, directly or indirectly, and invited members of the public to watch and support the local movie scene.

Prior to the movie premier, the minister also presented certificates to all sponsors and supporters of the movie.

Moviegoers can catch the movie today at various times starting 4.20pm at Arena Cineplex, Kiulap.

Ranggau is rated PG 18+ with duration of one hour 28 minutes.
