MINISTER of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin officially launched the Pusat Masyarakat Bestari (PMB) at National Service Programme (PKBN) camp in Batu Apoi, Temburong, which is a temporary location, yesterday.
The ceremony began with the mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by Imam of Labu Estate Mosque Haji Mohammad Sallehuddin bin Haji Suhaimi followed by a welcoming remark by Administrative Committee Manager of PMB Haji Md Jaidi @ Md Jaidin bin Haji Tahir.
The launching was marked with the strike of the gong after which the minister signed the memorial plaque. The ceremony also showcased products from each village in the district as well as a cooking demonstration.
Legislative Council member and Penghulu of Mukim Bokok Yang Berhormat Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil and Acting Temburong District Officer Khairul Shahrul bin Durahim were also present.
The establishment of PMB serves as a ‘One Stop Centre’ for activities towards producing a knowledgeable community and active in welfare activities.
Established by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports through the Community Development Department (JAPEM) in collaboration with the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP), it also serves as a facility for senior citizens to interact or network with the diverse community.
It is also hoped to draw youth and community involvement in social activities towards an integrated and knowledgeable community.
