FORMER residents of Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien College Hostel (ex-SOASC) harvested paddy at Lot Sengkuang Labi in the Belait District on Saturday.
The annual social event was hosted by owner of the paddy field Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Kassim bin Haji Johan. He started planting paddy in middle of November last year covering five hectares.
“The yield this time is very good, due to the improved irrigation system, especially for the Brunei Darussalam Rice type, also known as BDR. The other type is the Laila paddy,” he said.
Dato Paduka Haji Kassim and Dato Paduka Seri Haji Abdul Rahman are members of the ex-SOASC hostel residents’ Board of Advisors.
