MINISTER of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin launched the Persons with Different Abilities Skills Exposure Programme at the Youth Development Centre (PPB), Salambigar on Saturday.
The programme will have three sessions a year, offering different courses.
The first session – a Cake and Pastry Baking Course and basic in Fashion and Design Technology Course – will be held today until March 5.
Ten students – six from Pusat Bahagia, two from Special Education Unit, one from National Association for the Hearing-Impaired (OKP) and one from Brunei Down Syndrome Association (ABLE) attended the course.
The programme is supported by Pusat Bahagia, Community Development Department (JAPEM), Special Education Unit of the Ministry of Education, Council for the Welfare of Persons with Different Abilities (MKOKU) and Persons with Different Abilities associations to provide new skills to students and expose them to new learning environments.
The minister, accompanied by Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, President of MKOKU and Senior Trustee of Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Alimin bin Haji Abdul Wahab and Acting Assistant Director of the Youth Development Centre Haswandi bin Haji Osman, visited the workshops and interacted with students.
