DPMM FC recorded their fourth successive victory in the DST Premier League after a convincing 4-0 display against Seri Wira FC at the Jerudong Park Mini Stadium yesterday.
The Jerudong-based club are yet to concede a goal this season in all competitions while on an attacking aspect DPMM FC forward Md Hakeme Yazid bin Said continued his hot streak after his brace increased his tally to six league goals this season.
The hosts took a while to find their feet and unsurprisingly created the first genuine chance of the game but the player could not keep his shot down following good work on the flanks.
Md Hakeme Yazid started a promising move after passing the ball wide for Imam Mahdi bin Suhaimi who knocked the ball for Md Zainul Ariffin bin Mahdinee. The attacker released a good effort but the goalkeeper pulled a save.
Mohd Salleh’s ferocious cross was met by Md Hakeme Yazid on the far post but the latter somehow glanced his header wide.
But the in-form Md Hakeme Yazid responded his miss in the best possible fashion after masterminding the breakthrough for his team.
The striker played a neat one-two with a teammate which took out the entire defence before coolly slotting the ball home past the hapless Seri Wira goalkeeper Mohd Zaki bin Safar.
The youthful DPMM FC side are blessed with the quality of midfielder Md Azim Izamuddin bin Haji Suhaimi who showed his class after darting into the box and rifling his shot home.
The midfielder produced a shot from distance as they threatened to pull away even further.
Md Hakeme Yazid sprinted into the box and crossed the ball for substitute Md Haziq bin Haji Jupli whose effort from close range was thwarted by Mohd Zaki.
Md Wafi bin Aminuddin was the quickest to react and headed home a precise corner from Md Azim Izamuddin for his second league goal of the season in the 66th minute.
The fourth goal was imminent as an unmarked Md Hakeme Yazid powered home a fine header after connecting from an inviting cross just three minutes later.
Md Hakeme Yazid’s hope of completing a hat-trick for a third consecutive game was denied by a fine margin, following his exploits against Panchor Murai and Rainbow FC previously, after a Setia Perdana defender managed a last-ditch sliding clearance.
Md Haziq’s shot on the follow-up was blocked before Md Hakeme Yazid, who received a late booking in injury time, drifted his shot wide.
