MINISTER of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong visited GHK Motors Sdn Bhd in Beribi yesterday to take a closer look at the food truck which was launched recently by the auto dealer as part of an initiative to support the government’s call to help in the development of local start-ups, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and local young entrepreneurs in Brunei.
Present to brief the minister were the Managing Director of GHK Motors Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin and Director of GHK Motors Jake Goh.
Also present were Permanent Secretary and Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs along with senior officers from the ministry.
Food trucks are popular among food vendors in Malaysia and Indonesia.
GHK Auto Assembly Sdn Bhd, a sister company of the GHK Group of Companies, set up in March 2000, is the first in the country to build multi-purpose segment vehicles such as food truck that is gaining popularity among customers.
GHK Motors said it is building more food trucks for use by food vendors.
GHK Motors recently launched the new Daihatsu Gran Max lineup of vehicles for the light commercial segment.
GHK Motors said the ‘Designed for Your Business’ vehicles, which include ‘Box’ and pickup truck units, can be customised based on business needs and turned into food, catering or delivery trucks, among others.
The vehicles’ customisation is done to meet the demand for commercial vehicles locally.
