CHINESE communities across the country welcomed family and friends to their homes yesterday, as they celebrated the first day of Chinese New Year together.
In the Belait District, Chairman of the Board of Governors of Chung Ching Middle School Chin Kim Min held an open house, which featured a Lion Dance performance by the Chung Ching Middle School Lion Dance Troupe.
Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in the Belait District Loo Soon Nin hosted his annual open house celebration, marking the festivities with his family and those living in the surrounding area of his home.
A host of activities were lined-up to enliven the celebration, including a Lion Dance performance, a Silat performance by the Seria Silat Association, and a traditional Iban dance. Guests were treated to a buffet and received red packets at Loo Soon Nin’s home.
Permanent Honorary Advisor to the Chung Ching Middle School Board of Governors Wong Ming Ching and Kwong Wai Siew Association Chairman Koo Kong Loi also held open houses featuring a lion dance and the hand out of red packets.
Meanwhile, Chicken King Restaurant owner Lim Thian Ming and family held an open house celebration with the students of Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Belait District branch.
Pusat Ehsan Belait District Branch Manager Hamimah binti Haji Sapar led 60 students and teachers on the visit. They were treated to a buffet and received red packets. As a show of appreciation, the students presented a handmade gift to the family.
