THIRTY-FOUR retired rank-and-file personnel of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) were feted in a ceremony at the Auditorium of the RBPF Headquarters in Jalan Tungku yesterday.
Guest of honour Commissioner of Police Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jammy bin Haji Muhd Shah Al-Islam and spouse Pengiran Datin Hajah Zauyah binti Pengiran Haji Sulaiman, in her capacity as the Chairperson of PEKERTI, presented souvenirs to the retirees.
Eighteen retirees reached the maximum 30 years of service in the force, while the remaining served between 15 and 29 years.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Imam of the Gadong Police Surau APO SGT 6472 Mohamad Yusri bin Haji Abu Bakar, followed by the welcoming remarks by the chairperson of the organising committee Superintendent Hajah Rosnie binti Haji Ali.
In her remarks, Superintendent Hajah Rosnie said that the day is not the ending point for the retirees to provide their service and contribution to the force but can further continue even if it is just with words of advice or sharing of information or experiences.
The day also marked a success for the retiring personnel who have poured out their contribution and sweat to the nation in looking after the country’s tranquility and upholding the law.
She further pointed out that the retirees have contributed a lot in the police force and possess good discipline in carrying out police responsibilities professionally.
The annual ceremony was organised by the Department of General Administration and Finance, in collaboration with members of PEKERTI.
The event aimed to celebrate the retirement of the RBPF personnel and show appreciation towards their services and to their spouses.
