UiTM FC two-goal hero Adi Said has hit the ground running in the Malaysia Premier League after leading the scoring charts in the opening week of the season following his exploits in the 3-1 win against PDRM FA at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium last week.
The new signing opened his account with his first touch within 20 seconds of kick-off before capping off a fine debut with a second goal in the 36th minute at a time when PDRM threatened for an equaliser.
Adi stands alone in the scoring charts with two goals to his name and the Bruneian is among 12 nationalities who had got off the mark including Brazil, Japan, Malaysia, Argentina, South Korea, Serbia, Lebanon, Uzbekistan, Senegal, Haiti and Ukraine.
Adi previously scored in his first appearance for his former club DPMM FC against Warriors FC in June 2012 and the 3-2 victory against Cambodia when he represented the Brunei Darussalam National Under-21 team in the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy tournament earlier that year.
“This is my fastest goal after 20 seconds. I am delighted to be able to help UiTM FC,” Adi told UiTM FC.
Adi, who impressed coaches during his trials for the club late last year, also made history as the first Brunei-born player to feature and score for a foreign club in an overseas league.
Meanwhile, the striker was handed his preferred number 20 shirt which he also donned during his spell with DPMM FC and when on duty with the national team.
The forward is steadily forging a solid partnership with Senegal’s Robert Mendy and will look to get firing again in his club’s next match against Perlis tomorrow.
The Lion Troops are currently on the top of the Malaysia Premier League table via goal difference.
Adi’s new employers have targetted a top-four finish this season.
